all i can say is tippmann 98 custom .that was my first gun. ive been paintballing for about 4 years now and i still use it and its as good as when i first bought it.in my opinion its the most reliable pbgun out there.
and they are extremely customizable. on mine i have a sniper barrel , stock, and a acog scope and i love it.
ps. the 98c costs around 120 i recommend looking at action village

Well i depends n how much you want to spend on a started gun, hopper and, c02 tank or hpa tank. The best gun you can probably get is call the wgp synergy. If you just want to get a gun to just play around with is the tippmann 98 or the tippman a-5. All the guns a just said run on C02 except for the wgp synergy which uses HPA and that tank with cost about 50 buck for a cheap tank. the guns cost $150, $140, or $180.
My recommendation would be to get the wgp synergy because it comes with a electric hopper, double trigger which is magnetic, electic handel, shoots 18 balls per second (bps), 14 inch barrel, and 4 shoot modes consider 3 shot burst, semi auto, NXL full auto and psp ramp which is the best. Also the gun comes with a bps canger that goes from 5 bps to 18 bps. Both of the other gun are just semi auto, single trigger, only needs a gravity feed hopper, and a 8.5 inch barrel which is very in acurate.
I have a tippman alpha black which is only 130 bucks and and comes with a 11 inch barrel and it shoot up to liek a 10 balls per second and it only have a semi auto featur unless you buy the egrip one. This gun is kind of heavy but with all the stuff together with the hopper and co2 tank is about 150 bucks.
So i would recomend going on one of the sites below and look at the guns and look them up on you tube. The people give really good descriptions of cheap good guns.

Also what’s your price range? if it is 0-$150 get the Smart Parts Vibe, if it is $150-$200 get the smart parts ion or a proto slg, if your budget is $200-$450 get the dangerous power G3. I have a friend who has an invert mini and he is upgrading to a G3 with me. The G3 costs $300.
What is your price range? I would recommend the Smart parts Ion. Great stock set up. You can upgrade so much on the gun. I think its around 200. When I first got it it was around 279 so it’s dropped. I played with it for about a year and I upgraded to the shocker. But I doubt that you will dislike it.
if you want to do woodsball i’d start out with a tippmann 98 custom
or if you’d like to do speedball then i would go with a smart parts ion or the indian creek promaster but when you find a gun you like go to pbreviews and check it out on there
Go to any paintball store and ask the people that run the place. Unless they are college dropouts, they normally know.
