What is the best paintball gun for an intermediate player who has never really owned a gun?

I want to buy a paintball gun for a special someone but I don’t know what is best. He has played a lot but he hasn’t owned a gun at least in the last few years… he had one when he was living at home when he was in high school. He is really good but hasn’t been able to play much lately… I’m looking for something on the cheaper side. Which guns would be the best for him?

  1. tippman is a great band probably a 98 its in the low $100′s. U can go to tippmannpros.com and they have the guns for a decent price. An Tippmann A5 is also a great gun but its about double the price.

  2. It all depends on what kind of playing he does. If he likes to play mostly in the woods then I would definitely suggest the Tippmann A5
($179 – $350), probably one of the best (if not THE best) woodsball gun out there today. It is highly customizeable and with the right add-ons it can be very accurate and achieve a high rate of fire. My only complaint with the A-5 is that it is kind of heavy. If he wants something lighter he could go with a Tippmann 98 ($139 – $219).

If he plays on speedball fields (the ones with the inflatable bunkers and obstacles) I would say either a Smartparts Ion XE ($225) or a Empire Invert Mini ($325). Both are very light, fast shooting, and accurate guns. I would definitely make sure to buy the Ion XE and not the regular Ion because it is extremely hard to work on if it needs maintenance. These guns are also very good for woodsball if you buy them in a dark non-reflective color so they don’t stand out.

  3. Depending on the type of play he does go with either a Proto Matrix SLG (Speedball), a Tippman A5 (woodsball), Invert Mini(Speedball), or a Tippmann X7(Scenario). Paintball-online is a great site to buy from.

Here is a link to each Marker:

    Tippman A5 – http://www.paintball-online.com/shop/Tippmann-A-5-Paintball-Guns_prods_295

    Invert Mini – http://www.paintball-online.com/shop/Invert-Paintball-Guns_prods_630

    Tippman X7 – http://www.paintball-online.com/shop/Tippmann-X7-Paintball-Guns_prods_629

(on the X7 the E-grip is an electronic trigger that increases the guns rate of fire considerably)

    hope this helped….
